Just Like Cake (and not the band but the food)
Not much new for this week
The Raconteurs
The Raconteurs, to release their debute album April 24th 2006, are a pocket full of rock. Members from the Greenhorns ( a band I must admit I don't know much about) joined up with pop-folk artist Brendon Benson (who has been brillant in the past) and of course rif-rock legend Jack White. Their single is catchy and I think the album will be equally pleasing.
This is all for my musical rants this week.
As for my thesis, I have a chapter and quarter to go. Really it has become the song that never ends. Que Sera Sera.
April 2006 Treats - Round 1
Okay here it is, this weeks musical treats.
1. Blood on the Wall - Awsomer
If you like the Pixies and if you like Sonic Youth, this is the coming together of the two. This album will get greatest track of the year I think, in my opinion, with the song "Mary Susan." This brother/Sister duo provides a variety of sounds that have been inspired by the best moments in indie-rock history.
2. Wolfmother - S/T
um, well, this is a special album of rock riffage. Fans of Black Sabbath, Led Zep, etc. will love this, but also its fresh and brilliant so if you not a fan of the 70s rock still give it whirl. Oddly, this album is very Zen.
3. Built to Spill - You in Reverse
Ahhh. Now this is a refreshing album. This holds potential for a heavy in rotation summer album. Excellent driving music. And last but not least, beautifully noisy and complex.
that's all for this week. Enjoy! And stay tuned for upcoming shows!
PS. If any one is familiar with the works of Felix Guattari (French Philosopher) I need opinions on interpretations of his work called "chaosmosis" for my MA thesis. In specific I need a opinions on his references to aesthetics and subjectivity.
